"Good times create weak men.

Weak men create hard times.

Hard times create strong men.

Strong men create good times."

Rogue year 2020 had taught us valuable lessons. No matter what, everyone nurtures the naive belief that a change of calendar would somehow result in a change of fate and mark the beginning of a dream run. In the beginning people thought masks did not matter, but that mood has passed.Even as we struggled with physical distancing, staying in touch was key to keeping our sanity and well-being intact. And the Covid-19 brought the world to a grinding halt, but homes were abuzz with activity more than ever.

The year 2020 came with an excitement for all as it's a first year of new decade. Everyone enjoyed 31st with a high spirit but none of us where aware that with a new decade there will be start of new problems. We never ever imagined that a single, microscopic virus can change our lives completely. The most negative word in 2020 was 'Positive'!!

Masks have been a great levelers these days. Only super heroes, doctors and certain South-Asians wore them. Now, it's international culture. Masks also changed our outlook. The masked man was a thief, a rioter.. Now he's a gentleman and the unmasked one is the boor. The eyes are the only interpreters left now as the mask hides all the remaining.

We all went struggling with physical distancing and many of us can't accept to have or give space. Hugs and handshakes are now forbidden 😌. All thanks to a  virus that doesn't respect space or seek consent. However our disconnect with social reality precedes the pandemic. We were anyway more in touch with our screens than with each other. Video calls became frequent and creative.

At home, too, we hesitate turning into touch-me-nots in the presence of our loved ones, especially the elderly. In March, when the novel corona virus was picking up pace , a battle gathered steam inside many homes. Children wondered if it was an extended holiday, now the parents were at home. Innovation at home was at an all time high with parents coming out with all possible do it yourself ideas and games to deal with the situation.Homes turned into production rooms as the young and old launched  YouTube channels.

Altogether,2020 was a year a realizations...A year that completely changed the lives of all-from simple laymen to rich businessmen.

"Never regret a day in your life: good days give happiness, bad days give experience, worst days give the best lessons."

Let us all hope & work together for that good old days to comeback...

"A BAD WORKMAN ALWAYS BLAMES HIS TOOLS"

A really talented person succeeds in his work and he makes use of his abilities properly and achieves good results.  He uses his tools in the right way, even if they are not excellent. At the same time, if a badly talented person even if given excellent tools, fails to achieve good results. He tries to find lame excuses for his failure to achieve good results. He blames his tools for the bad work he has done. He does not want to admit that he is a bad workman.Even if good opportunities are provided for the less talented person, he fails to exploit such chances and succeed in life. He blames the opportunities and people around him for his failure; the hardworking one, without complaint utilizes them and succeeds in life.

A sample letter to the Editor

From:

Mariya Elite,

Kenivalayal house,

Kenichira post,

Wayanad.

To:

The Editor,

Mathrebhoomi,

Kozhikode.

Sir,

Sub: stray dogs are increasing in our locality.

I am writing this letter to draw your attention towards a major problem that we face in our locality due to stray dogs. In Kenichira the number of stray dogs are increasing day by day and these dogs are a great threat to the public and to the people who reside here.

A few days ago a person named Madhavan (57),who was standing on the road side was terribly attacked by the stray dogs, he was seriously injured and was taken to the Medical College. Most of the time these dogs quarrel each other by barking loudly and this is a great nuisance for the people who reside here especially during night. I would like to draw your attention particularly towards the problem that school students who go to school by walking or cycling also face a graet difficulty because of these stray dogs. These dogs are also disturbing the traffic in our area.

We already have complained about this issue to our local body authorities, but they have not taken any measures to solve this problem yet.

As an editor of a responsible newspaper, I hope you will help us by publishing this issue on your newspaper as early as possible. So that the  authorities will take this issue much more seriously and will take appropriate measures to solve this out.

I know that you and your newspaper are very sensitive towards public issues and are doing your best to sought out those issues. I hope you will take this matter seriously and do the needful.

Yours faithfully,

Mariya Elite
